2008 Annual Meeting of the
Southern Group of State Foresters

South Carolina Forestry Commission hosted the annual meeting of the Southern Group of State Foresters in Columbia, South Carolina, at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center and the Hilton June 8-11, 2008.

2008 Attendees:
We have heard from many of you since the SGSF annual meeting here in South Carolina and received many positive comments for which we are truly grateful.    We conducted an assessment after the meeting to identify what went well and what could have been done better.  This information will be shared with those who will host future meetings, so if you know of something that we can learn from and pass along to North Carolina and others, please let us know.

Thanks to you, the SGSF Silent Auction raised $3,754 to benefit Canoeing for Kids – a local volunteer, non-profit organization that provides free canoeing, kayaking, rafting, camping and fishing trips for underprivileged children. Jay Alley said this was a very substantial donation and it would be used to purchase additional canoes and kayaks.  He greatly appreciates the SGSF contribution to help get underprivileged kids outside.

State Forester Gene Kodama proudly hands Jay Alley with Canoeing for Kids the check for $3754.

Some photos from various meeting events are posted online for your viewing pleasure.  Once again, we enjoyed having you here and look forward to seeing you again!

Sincerely,
Gene Kodama
SC State Forester
